LOCAL WALK: NORTH BOVEY TO BOVEY CASTLE

untitled-5-2.jpg

This beautiful return stroll takes you along River Bovey through woodlands to Bovey Castle. As Moorland View guests, you have full membership, entitling you to free use of the facilities and a discount on anything you spend. Just flash the membership card when you arrive and pay for anything.

 Time: 30 mins each way
Level: easy and flat
Footwear: wellies or hiking boots – it gets muddy.

Follow the path that leads through the churchyard, head down the hill and turn left at the bottom. Cross Blackaller Bridge and hop over the bridge wall on the right to pick up the footpath that traces the river up to Bovey Castle.

Keep following this footpath with the river on your right.

After about 15 minutes, you’ll come to the edge of the woods and instead of following the path to the left, go straight straight on, across Bovey Castle’s golf course and up the hill to Bovey Castle or around the lakes on the right.

Note: you can extend this walk by following the river from the stepping stones. To find these, follow the lane that leads down the hill with the pub on your left and phone box (defibrillator) on your right. Keep following the river and pick up the trail from Blackaller Bridge, as described above.
