Walks from North Bovey
This flat, easy riverside stroll takes you through beautiful woodlands along River Bovey to Bovey Castle. As Moorland View guests, you have full membership, entitling you to free use of the facilities and a discount on anything you spend. Just flash the membership card when you arrive and pay for anything. Wear wellies if it’s been raining as the path gets muddy.
For a heady shot of invigorating country air and a great perspective on your surroundings, nothing beats a brisk stomp up Easdon Tor – the forested hill you see from Moorland View’s bedroom window. From the triangulation point at the top, you’ll see 360-degree views of Dartmoor, including many of its most famous tors, and there’s the chance of spotting birds of prey and wild Dartmoor ponies who come here to graze.
Offering idyllic views of North Bovey and the surrounding countryside, the highest point of this walk makes a great picnic spot in spring and summer, when the fields brim with wildflowers. The surrounding land belongs to our neighbour, Sue, who trains racehorses so you may see a couple of her stallions in the fields.
